‘H2O:Water Bar’Campaign

Respected artist and environmentalist Janet Laurence turned Sydney’s Paddington Reservoir Gardens into a new kind of venue where sustainability met sobriety.

Brief

H2O: Water Bar was a reflective, glassy glistening installation by Janet Laurence that allowed Sydney-siders to sample a variety of water sourced from diverse regions of Australia. Outfitted like an apothecary or laboratory, H2O: Water Bar was set amongst the heritage industrial space of the Paddington Reservoir Gardens’ inner chamber, opened to the public especially for this installation.

It was my role to extend an open invitation to the discerning people of Sydney to visit the city’s latest tasting bar, convincing them that it was serving something more precious than vintage French bubbles or Japanese whiskey: our natural water supply. The bar was open for a limited time over the summer of 2016 and would also host talks, movies, debates and performances.

Approach

  • Worked with in-house graphic design studio to streamline campaign artwork into 
  • Organised photo shoot for campaign artwork
  • Account managed in-house graphic design studio to roll out campaign artwork across all formats required to fulfill media buy including JC Decaux OOH and digital advertising on Broadsheet Sydney, Time Out Sydney, Concrete Playground.
  • Worked with in-house media buyer to procure paid media partnerships with Junkee, Broadsheet Sydney, Time Out Sydney, Concrete Playground and other digital content publications
  • Supervised assisting Marketing Assistant with artwork production schedule 
  • Oversaw written content execution by Junkee, Time Out Sydney, Concrete Playground and other digital content publications 
  • Project managed videography and photography vendors, budgets, shoots and end deliverable edits and version control
  • Socialised end outcomes to external company stakeholders and internal executives for approval
  • Managed organic and paid Facebook campaign content creation, targeting, and
  • Created and updated event listing on City of Sydney What’s On website and also Art & About Sydney website
  • Oversaw content creation and implementation in The City of Sydney’s What’s On weekly enewsletter and Creative City Sydney quarterly newsletter and Green Villages enewsletter
  • Tracked and monitored all digital marketing activity and created post-analysis report

Results

  • 75-100% venue capacity throughout duration of event
  • 26,500+ page views across What’s On website and Art & About website (owned by City of Sydney) in campaign lead up and during event 
  • Seeded content partnership articles going viral on Concrete Playground News and Events, Time Out, Junkee and Broadsheet and their associated social media channels
  • Additional PR pick up in publications such as news.com.au, Daily Telegraph, 9news.com.au, Eat Drink Play, ArtsHub,  Pedestrian.TV
